17 People killed in Delhi hotel as fire broke out

Shocking news came from Karol Bagh, Delhi today before the sunrise. This created havoc among the people and has caused 17 deaths and many injuries to people. The incident of a fire breakout took place in the hotel Hotel Arpit Palace. The hotel is situated in the heart of Karol Bagh in a very populated hotel. The raging fire was spotted when it had covered the whole top floor of the hotel.

A fire department official said;

“We have confirmed with hospital authorities, the  number of deaths has raised to 17 including a child.” 
In order to escape the fire a woman and her child jumped from the window and unfortunately couldn’t be saved.

When the team of fire extinguishers were called, they saved nearly around 37 lives. People in large numbers were caught up on the top floor of the hotel. Many people were also harmed by the excess of smoke inhaled by them.

However, the actual cause behind this sudden outbreak of fire has still not been discovered. It was also commented by the authorities, that these days in order to save some extra money, the owners of the hotels take chances with their safety measures.

This is not the first case of fire in Delhi but cities like Mumbai are more prone to such sudden disasters.

Delhi minister Satyendar Jain said;

Images showed thick smoke and flames billowing out of the top floor of the six-storey hotel, popular with budget travellers. “The top two floors of the hotel were constructed illegally,”
