1917 showcases the time is of the First World War and the British soldiers are in danger as they have not received the latest update of the plan. If the information does not reach at time, there could be loss of over 1600 soldiers by the hands of Germans. The responsibility of transporting the information is given to two soldiers to go across miles and it’s all in their hand the fate of 1600 soldiers.
The story lies in the northern France during 1917. The two soldiers have a missing that is a race against time. They have to report the ambush by the German Retreat to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich. The other aspect of this is also that, in the 1600 soldiers that are in danger, there is the brother of one of the two who are responsible to deliver the information to the battalion. This adds more drama to already highly difficult task. But the two brave soldiers take the task and head quickly to avoid the loss of team.
The journey is filled with multi-leveled difficulties, and the soldiers walk through it. The movie is all about that. Will they be able to deliver the information? If they can, will that be on time! This is another question that arises. The movie is all about this in the background of the World War I.
The movie is directed by Sam Mendes and also co-written by him. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, George MacKay, Dead-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott and Richard Madden. It will be produced by Universal Pictures and will be releasing on December 25th this year.
