Born as Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam on 15th October 1931 in Rameshwaram, India received a blessing as its son. A son, who went on to contribute more than one could think in a single lifetime. Battling poverty in childhood he was forced to sell the newspaper to support his poor family. His father was a boat owner and mother a housewife. But his love of education leads him to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

1) APJ Abdul Kalam was a world known for his vast knowledge and way beyond simplicity. In a case of such, APJ Abdul Kalam visited Switzerland during his tenure of presidency. The Switzerland government was surprised to see his simplicity in every way even after being a world-known scientist and President of India. The day AJP Abdul Kalam visited in Switzerland is commemorated as ‘Science Day’ in their country.

2) While most of the people retire early to stop working, APJ Abdul Kalam loved to work more and more. When his tenure of Presidency completed, most of the people would have taken rest and enjoyed the rest of their life, but APJ Abdul Kalam was no ordinary person. Even after his presidency period was completed, he kept working as a visiting professor in many prestigious universities in and out of India.

3) While India was denied entry in the Nuclear power, APJ Abdul Kalam stepped upon the task to get India a nuclear tag. AJP Abdul Kalam was the Chief Project Coordinator of the ‘Smiling Buddha’ Nuclear test. These tests were taken up in the Pokhran region with constant supervision of the foreign countries. Hiding from the foreign countries and shining brighter, India conducted these tests successfully and got the tag of Nuclear Power.

4) In the 1980’s under his leadership in the DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organisation ), AJP Abdul Kalam designed the Agni and Prithvi Missile. These missiles powered the army and are a constant threat to the enemy nations. These missiles were so successful and till today are the bases of the missiles coming in the future. This lead to his famous ‘Missile Man’ tag. Apart from just missile, while his time in the DRDO AJP Abdul Kalam also designed the Helicopters for the Indian Army.

5) Apart from these APJ Abdul Kalam was Padma Bhushan in 1981 and Padma Vibhushan in 1990. He was also awarded the highest award in India, the Bharat Ratna for his immense contribution to the field of science.
