It is not necessary to link your Aadhaar card number with any services. But, to file income tax returns it is mandatory to link PAN with Aadhaar card. Aadhaar card is issued to every individual by the Unique Identification Authority Of India(UIDAI). It is done with the help of the bio-metric details given by individuals such as fingerprints, scanning of the iris, date of birth, and address.

If you see that some of your details are wrongly mentioned in your Aadhaar card, UIDAI allows you to change or update your Aadhaar details. They provide both online and offline facilities for updating details. Updating details includes changing of mobile number, name, address, email, etc. You can fill the form of the Aadhaar card update form and can easily correct any error or update any data.

Documents Required For Aadhaar Card Name Change.

UIDAI has given a list of documents needed as a proof of identity. The list consists of:-

  • Voter ID
  • PAN card
  • Driving Licence
  • Ration card
  • Photo bank ATM
  • Government photo ID cards
  • Pensioner photo card
  • Arms licence
  • Freedom Fighter photo card
  • Kissan photo passbook
  • Marriage certificate with photo

  • ST, SC, and OBC certificate with photo
  • Extract of school records
  • Certificate of identity with name, date of birth, photo issued by employees provident fund organisation.

Modes Of Aadhaar Card Name Change.

There are two modes of Aadhaar card name change i.e. online and offline mode. But, currently according to UIDAI rules Aadhaar card name change can be done offline by visiting the Aadhaar Kendra Services(ASK). You can also book your appointment online and download the correction form and visit the center.

ONLINE MODE:- In order to avoid standing in a long queue you can easily book your appointment online. Follow the steps mentioned below for booking an appointment:-

Step 1- Visit the official site of UIDAI and click on book appointment as shown in the image below.

Step 2- Select the center name as per your current location and click proceed to book an appointment.

Step 3- Choose the option Aadhaar update.

Step 4- Fill your mobile number and enter OTP sent on your registered mobile number.

Step 5- After successful verification, the form appears which needs to be filled and submitted. You can download the form from the UIDAI official website.

Step 6- Visit Aadhaar Kendra Service(ASK) according to the time slot with the form and the documents required.

OFFLINE MODE:- Aadhaar card name change can also be done by visiting the permanent center. You can visit your nearest center by researching it on the UIDAI website link. follow the steps as mentioned below for doing offline:-

Step 1- Fill the Aadhaar enrollment form.

Step 2- Mention your name in the form.

Step 3- Submit the form with one of the identity proof as mentioned in the list above.

Step 4- The Aadhaar officer will register your request.

Step 5- After receiving the receipt for the request you are required to pay Rs 50 to apply for this.

Step 6- It may take 90 days to complete the request.

Things To Remember While Doing Aadhaar Card Name Change.

  • Aadhaar card name change form should be filled in capital letters.
  • Submission of correct identity proof.
  • In case original documents are misplaced so you need to attest the photocopies of all the documents by the gazetted officer.
  • Do not give false information.
  • Do not use a greeting in front of your name.
  • You can call 1947 if in case your Aadhaar card states invalid.
