Laughing gas surely is an interesting gas, it’s like giving candy to a small child. In the world full of anxiety and depression, all it provides you with calm, relief and freshness.

Mains of laughing gas

Laughing gas is a chemical compound known as nitrous oxide. In 1972, Joseph priestly synthesized nitrous oxide for the first time. After that many other Professionals started to give this gas a deep study. In 1844, Nitrous oxide was used on the patients for the first time .it was used by Horace Wells.M any other people thought it is not safe and may cause complications. After using the same gas on almost 30,000 patients, Horace and his colleague Colton made other dentists to accept the fact. Dentists accepted that it was safe, secure and effective and use of the gas spread all over the world.

What exactly gas do – this gas blocks the neuron that signals pain, it also increases the GABA receptor’s actions, resulting in decreased pain and decreased anxiety respectively. It also initiates the release of dopamine. Dopamine release makes the patient calm and content.

This gas is generally used by the dentist to make the dental process easier. Dentist generally places a small mask over the nose. This mask contains the supply of nitrous oxide, the patient needs to breathe slowly through the nose. Gas starts it affects within a few minutes. After that body feels light and the patient feel less of everything. Its effect is different in the different patient, some might just burst out in laughter, some might just feel relaxed and will share many talks with the dentist. Some might just react normally and feel calm. Normally, laughing gas makes you feel light, happy, light-headed, something like tangling and all and maybe that’s why it’s correctly named.

Can there be any negative point?

Unconsciousness –

Gas can result in Unconsciousness as it causes a lack of oxygen going to the Brain. It generally slows down the brain processes and your body functions. This gas can be considered depressant type drug and that is not the very good health of a human being.

Heavy or overdose is never good, be it of anything, same is the case with this gas. It is found that it can even lead to the deficiency of vitamin B12 if taken regularly or heavy dose taken. Deficiency of B12 can cause major damage to the body further. It also causes numbness in some of the body parts like fingers and toes. It may cause nausea sometimes and you may be advised not to take a heavy meal before taking on the gas.

Gas consumed in a closed space may cause major damage and it increases the risk. It’s all about the excess of the gas that leads to such circumstances.

Otherwise, nitrous oxide is safe even for children, it is normal and is not allergic to health. It does not give an effect of a person high on drugs, At least. Patient with breathing and respiratory problems this gas is a not a good idea to go with.

Ladies going through pregnancy should surely consult their dentist before using the gas, so it might not come up with complex circumstances in the future.

So, altogether laughing gas shows a happy way to the dentist.
