#MeToo: Alok Nath Reacts After Being Accused of Rape by a Former Colleague

Alok Nath is an actor in the Indian film industry famous for his works in Hindi cinema and television. With his debut in 1982 with the film Gandhi, and won an Academy Award for Best Picture in the same year. Alok Nath has regularly been appearing on screen.

Reacting on the allegations against him by a veteran television writer and producer. The alleged victim, in this case, has accused him of sexual assault which happened somewhere in the mid 90’s. Producer of Tara, Vinta Nanda has taken it to her Facebook to accuse Alok Nath of sexual assault two decades ago.

Actor Alok Nath is reacting to the allegations of rape on him, he claimed that someone must have abused her, but it was not him in an insensitive manner. He further responded that people had something to say all the time and stated that he neither denied the claims nor does he disagree with them. He then stated that it (rape) must have happened, but it must have been done by someone else and said that he does not want to talk about it. He did not want to talk about as, the matter is already out and if I spoke something about it, it would stretch.

Joining the #MeToo movement

The #MeToo movement is being quite popular these days. Many celebrities are claiming to face the evil of casting couch, or sex abuse. Celebrities like Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and even AIB comedian Utsav Chakraborty G are facing the accuse of sexual assault. Alok Nath then spoke that Nanda’s claims are the result of this movement in India.

Alok Nath further says that only the women’s stand against any matter states to be true. When questioned about the allegations against him, he denied them outright and asked what he had to do with people. There will be people who will do anything to spoil the image. He then said that putting aside the issue of image, the claims are absurd.

Patching up

Vinta Nanda also affirmed in her post that their friends had patched them up after the horrific incident. Speaking about this, Alok Nath responded that she used to be such a good friend. To be accused in such a way, is saddening. He further says that he made her who she was today. He concluded his statement saying it is useless to react. As only what the woman says people believe onto in today’s world.

About the incident, Nanda says she can still remember how brutally everything occured. When she woke up the next afternoon, she was in pain. She couldn’t get up for my bed. When I told some of my friends, everybody advised me to forget about it and move on.
