Our readers would be thrilled to know that this year sale of Amazon.in has crossed Rs 750 crores. This was only in the premium range of smartphones. Not only this, this amount was earned by the portal in just 36 hours of the sale launch. If we talk about other e-commerce sites such as Flipkart, they also witnessed the same.

When the sources approached both the companies to know about the overall sale in BBD, they were all mum. However, the sale has finally ended on 4th October. This year has not been the most profiting year for some industries, but it has been best for these two websites. It is also being said that these online shopping companies are said to make a profit of 5 billion, this festive season.

Amit Agarwal, the Head of Indian Country and Amazon Global Senior Vice President said;

“With the single largest day of Prime sign-ups, and record number of customer and seller participation, this is the biggest opening day sale for Amazon.in.”

He further added;

“91 per cent of its new customers came from tier II and III towns with fashion and smartphone categories emerging as the top shopping categories for these customers.”

The employees working in Amazon said that since the Hindi interface was launched, the sales grew more.

Agarwal also stated;

“Affordability programmes enabled record number of customers upgrade to premium phones with sales from premium brands OnePlus, Samsung and Apple exceeding Rs 750 crore within 36 hours. Large appliances and TVs saw record sales over the 36 hours with nearly 10X from an average business day.”

The products were sold in almost all the cities of the country and as many as 42, 500 sellers of Amazon received minimum one order. If we talk about the exact growth in different categories, fashion- 5X, beauty – 7X and groceries- 3.5X. This is the recorded data of the profit earned as compared to the regular business days.

Coming to the sales of the premium mobile phones, some of the popular brands were Red Mi, Apple, Samsung, Oppo, etc. Televisions and other electronic appliances also witnessed a growth of 10X as compared to regular business days. The Amazon.in Big Billion Days have seemed to bring much profit to the company this year.

It has been recorded that 2500 sellers have received the highest sales in these days of BBD.
