The Long awaited Asian Games 2018 have started in the Indonesian Cites, Jakarta and Palembang with more than 10,000 athletes participating from 45 countries in more than 58 different games.
The Asian Games 2018 are said to begin from 18th August to 2nd September. This year there will be 524 athletes from our country India, 277 men and 247 Women competing in 36 various sports categories.

Sneak peek into Asian games 2018

Asian Games are held in the interval of every 4 years. The last when Indonesia hosted the grand event was back in 1962.
The Asian Games started off with the Vibrant, cultural and energetic opening ceremony on last Saturday 18th August. The ceremony unfolded with the march of North and South Korea followed by featuring popular Asian Singers like Raisa, Tulus, Edo and many more. This ceremony was held in the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
In the opening ceremony of the Games, Neeraj had led India’s contingent. He is a talented javelin throw champion who was India’s Flag Bearer.

We are proud to announce that Bajrang Punia has won the first gold in the Asiad Games 2018, making the country have more high hopes.
Indonesia being the host country for the Asian Games this year, aims to grab at least one gold in the archery domain. Though the sport may seem very easy, demands a lot of focus and strength to aim.
Not to forget the versatility of Indonesia in the Badminton, as there was once a time in the world where people even with their eyes closed would know, that the winning team would always be Indonesia.
Aquatic Centre has been recently renovated for all the sportspersons and athletes for their open-air training in the fully sheltered field.
In total there are more than 42 sports categories, from which Gelora Bung Karo stadium will be hosting 13 and the rest of the events will be held in Palembang, West Java, and Jakarta.

India’s Performance throughout the Asian Games Cycle

In the Asian games 2014, India had finished with grabbing 57 medals in total. It ranked 8th in this year of Asiad. While, in 2010 Asian games, India had bagged 65 medals in china, gaining 6th position overall.
