Assembly Polls: Mamata wins Bengal, DMK TN, LDF Kerala, BJP Assam

After the counting of votes of Assembly elections 2021 in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam concluded on May 2, TMC’s Mamata Banerjee, DMK’s MK Stalin, LDF’s Pinarayi Vijayan and BJP won in respective states. The Assembly elections 2021 were held in 4 states amid a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases across the country. As of now, India is reeling under the unprecedented second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.

West Bengal Assembly elections 2021

Although TMC supremo and West Bengal CM lost the high-intensity Nandigram battle, TMC swept victory in Assembly polls. As per the Election Commission (EC), Mamata Banerjee-led TMC won 160 seats and leads additionally in 29. Meanwhile, BJP accepted its defeat and said that it has got the opportunity of becoming the Opposition party in the state. BJP had said, “We got the responsibility of becoming the opposition party in the state and we will do everything to serve the people and help Mamata Didi to fight COVID-19 and all other work required to serve the public.”

Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2021

In Tamil Nadu, the DMK won the Assembly polls by leading in 118 constituencies, the minimum required for a simple majority in the 234-member Assembly. As per the EC, 159 seats. DMK Chief MK Stalin will now become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the first time.

Kerala Assembly Elections 2021

As per the Election Commission, the LDF chief Pinarayi Vijayan was able to retain his powers in Kerala. The LDF was leading in 99 seats, which is much more than the 71-mark needed to form the government. Meanwhile, the United Democratic Front of Congress was leading in just 41 seats at the time of publishing the story. The National Democratic Alliance was unlikely to win a seat, as per the trends.

Assam Assembly Elections 2021

After winning the second term in Assam, the ruling saffron party is all set to form its government for the second consecutive term. However, there are still speculations about, who will be BJP’s CM face for this term. As per reports, there is a high possibility that Himanta Biswa Sharma can be made the next Chief Minister of Assam.
