When festivities are round the corner, being more vigilant towards the happening, and environment around, becomes crucial. Moving ahead with a similar idea and keeping the health of the environment in mind, the National Green Tribunal has announced a verdict on imposing a temporary ban on firecrackers in 23 states and UTs, since the air quality is deteriorating and the existing Covid-19 situation is getting worsen.
The past week recorded continuous meetings of NGT with the Union Environment Ministry of states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, the CPCB, the Delhi Police commissioner, and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee asking for the response of all the committees and ministries on temporary ban imposition on the selling and purchasing of firecrackers from November 7 to midnight of November 30.
The reports of air quality of top metropolitan cities of India have not given a satisfactory response, which further alarmed the government to put a hold to the early selling of it, preventing the environment from any further deterioration. Since then notice has been issued to the government of Delhi- NCR along with 19 other states and UTs Where the air quality has been found crossing the standard parameters of quality.

List Of States, UTs, and Cities To Undergo Temporary Ban
So here we have a list of a few of 122 non-attainment cities which will undergo this temporary ban imposition:

- Varanasi
- Bhopal
- Kolkata
- Noida
- Muzaffarpur
- Mumbai
- Jammu
- Ludhiana
- Patiala
- Ghaziabad
- Varanasi
- Kolkata
- Patna
- Gaya
- Chandigarh and more
Post releasing the verdict, on Sunday, NGT suspended all the issued licenses. Delhi Police tweeted lately, “All licenses issued for the sale of firecrackers have been suspended and further action will be taken on NGT directions.”
The order by NGT stated “The Chief Secretaries and DGPs of all the states and UTs may issue and circulate an appropriate order in above terms with appropriate enforcement guidelines to all the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police PCBs/PCCs.”
Latest Update: Delhi and cities nearby will undergo total ban imposition from midnight today to November 30. Anybody found barging the norms will have to bear the consequences later.
