After the intriguing trailer of, the Netflix India and Red Chilies Entertainment production ‘Bard of Blood’, the series have not impressed the audience as the makers and the audience themselves had thought. The Emraan Hashmi starrer 7-Episode series is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta who has previously directed the films like Te3n, Yudh and will be bringing The Girl on the Train in the future.
The love for the Spy-web series are always on a high and especially when it has an angle of Pakistan involved in it. The Bard of Blood is released with another web series of somewhat same plot by Amazon Prime. With Netflix coming up with ‘Bard of Blood’, Amazon Prime has come with Manoj Bajpayee starring ‘Family Man’.

The Title of the series is taken from the character of Emraan Hashmi who plays a teacher as his sideline job and teaches the verses of Shakespeare. There is some history regarding to why he stops working as an intelligence officer that is disclosed later in the series.
Emraan Hashmi makes a comeback to his previous job as the Indian Intelligence has received an information regarding four Indians taken hostage by the Taliban in the Balochistan region. The region of Balochistan comes in strong force of Taliban and Emraan hashmi knows it will never be easy to complete the mission. The region comes in hand of supremo- Mullah Khalid and his cruel son Aftab who are struggling to free Balochistan.
To free the four hostages from India, Emraan hashmi teams with Sobhita Dhulipala, who is an analyst in the Intelligence and Viineet Kumar, who is a forgotten spy in Balochistan and just wants to be back home. For more assistance he is supported by his ex-crush Kirti Kulhari, who has her brother already in the resistance movement in Balochistan against the Taliban.
As a series, Bard of Blood has great action sequels but poor story-line. Just like every other production, the story focus on how the political games are been played in the background and how people on ground are merely pawns. No doubt Emraan Khan shines in his act, but yet again we’ll have to wait for the next season to see the story unfold. We’ll have to seriously find an angle to these kind of stories other than involving Pakistan or IGI into the picture. Comparing all such stories, the main story line remains same apart from the Actors changing.
