Chaitra Navratri 2020 begins from 25th March 2020, It is a festival that most of the Hindu people celebrate with joy and worship Goddess Durga for 9 Nights. Navratri itself means “Nine Nights”.
The Navratri festival that is celebrated in the month of March and April is known as Chaitra/ Basant Navratri. Many people celebrate it for only 8 days and perform rituals like Pooja, Jagran, and Raj Bhog. Some people celebrate it for 9 days as well and the 9th day is known as Ram Navmi.
What is the Significance of Navratri?
Navratri is celebrated for 9 days which signifies the victory of Good over the evil. It is said that during Navratri we get a positive atmosphere and get blessings of Goddess Durga who is worshipped by people during these 9 days.
Goddess Durga is the symbol of Shakti and strength and people believe that meanwhile this time they can get positivity and strength to fight with bad power.
Navratri basically symbolizes the beginning of a new time a new year as per the Hindu Calendar. Different avatars of Goddess Durga are worshipped every day and as a prasad people offer Fruits, Puri Chole and Halwa to Maa Durga as a symbol of love.
What other things people do?
People do pooja at their home i.e known as “Kanjake” or “Kanjak Pujan”. They serve Halwa Puri along with Chana to them as a symbol of love and respect towards the Goddess. Navratri is the time when people do fasting, pooja and other things to celebrate these 9 days with happiness. Wish for positive things as this is the time when people start new things, have new beginnings and focus on good things by eliminating bad ones.
