China unveils 500-MP ‘Super Camera’ with Artificial-Intelligence

China is one of the leading technology advancers of the world and has come up with yet another first-of-its-kind technology. This time China has come up with a 500-MP Super camera. Yes, you read that right it is 500-megapixel. No doubt that it has been called a ‘super camera’, seeing its capabilities. The bigger story out of this is that other than China, many foreign countries have shown interest in this innovation from around the world.

The 500-megapixel camera just doesn’t capture clear pictures or have higher zooming capabilities. Other than these features, the camera is powered by Artificial-Intelligence which is what is separating it from its competitors from other parts of the world. The camera has been designed to distinguish every face from the crowd and has the capability to recognize any face even in a crowd of thousands.

Back in time, the human eye’s capability of capturing and reading the images was considered to be the best possible. But today the ‘super camera’ claims to be four-time more detailed than the 120-million-pixel Human eye. The researchers recently unveiled the camera at China’s International Industry Fair, where the claimed this camera to be the best in the business.

One fear that has also risen after its launch is that this technological advancement can serve a lot of good but also can lead to many bad also. One of which is feared to be the rise in cutting down of civil liberties in China and other parts that this camera is traded to.

China’s ‘super camera’ is a joint research venture of Fudan University and Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The credit of designing the structure of the ‘super camera’ is given to the Fudan University and the physics of the camera for formulated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

According to an Analyst, at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, he claimed that China already has maintained a massive database of people’s face images and has the capability of connecting them and identify them. It has already installed 170 million CCTV type of cameras in shopping centers, airports, and various such public places and is planning to expand it even more by 2020.

Last year China introduced the ‘Gait recognition’ Technology that was designed to identify subjects just as they passed by. Now with this ‘super camera’, China could probably be already way ahead than other countries in terms of Artificial-Intelligence.
