Conjuring Series: There are quite a few cinematographic universes in the world that are followed fanatically by the fans. Some of which are the Marvel and the DC Comics that we all know in the super-hero series. But apart from these super-hero series, there is also the supernatural series. Some of these super-natural universes are The Conjuring, Annabelle and The Nun. Among these universes, The Conjuring Universe rules the horror genre by big margins. Conjuring Universe started in 2013 with its first movie named “The Conjuring” which turned out as a massive success.
The Conjuring Series is based on real-life cases, experienced by the famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple helps the people who are possessed by demonic spirits and is the major plot of the movies in these series.
The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 have been the movies in the series so far in 2013 and 2016 and the third movie in the series “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” is expected to release in September 11, 2020. The Conjuring series was previously named as ‘The Warren Files’ as the center of the movies were the Warren couple.
The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjuring is till date one of the most followed horror movies of all time. Starting the Conjuring Series, it was based on Warren’s 1971 case which they faced in the Harrisville in Rhode Island. The places were said to be cursed by a witch. The movie was shot in Wilmington in North Carolina in February 2012. The scenes of the film were shot in a chronological order to bring the true essence of the situation to the complete cast and crew. The movie was completed in a mere $20 million but in return collected a whopping $318 million worldwide.
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Part two of the series came out in 2016. This edition of the film was focused on the Ed and Warren case of 1977 in the Enfield Poltergeist case that was inspired by The Amityville Horror. The film once again proved to be a great hit just like the prequel. The film had been filmed in $40 million and then went out to gross $320.3 million that is the second highest-grossing horror film of all time after The Exorcist.
The Conjuring Series has been by far the most successful franchise in all genres, just after the Godzilla Franchise.
