Earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude rocks Bay of Bengal

Another shocking disaster took place in the country today. At 7:03 AM today, an earthquake was felt in Chennai. The earthquake was believed to be of magnitude as big as 5.4 Richter scale. Different parts of Chennai and Bay of Bengal witnessed tremors caused by earthquake.

However, by God’s grace there were no damages to property and loss of life during this disaster. The earthquake was reported to hit the coast of Chennai from 606 km away.

The meteorological department is occupied with some scientific investigation upon this issue because it was very unexpected.

The system alert said;

“Based on historical earthquake and tsunami data, tsunami threat does not exist for the Indian Ocean. IOTWMS-TSP India will monitor sea level gauges near to epicentre and report if any tsunami activity is observed.”
