The Statue of Unity which is built in tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has finally opened up for the public. Sardar Patel served as the first home minister of independent India. He was one of the key persons to unite the 562 princely states and form the Republic of India. On October 31st, Sardar Patel’s 143rd birth anniversary Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Statue of unity to the public.
The Statue is currently the tallest statue in the world. It has a height of 183 meters which is 23 meters taller than the ex-tallest statue of the world, China’s Spring Temple Buddha. Not only that it also has almost the double height of the Statue of Liberty. Thanks to all these stats the statue is expected to host up to 10,000 tourists per day. Other than being the tallest statue in the world there are few other reasons to visit the statue as well. The statue hosts a gallery at the height of 135 meters which is close to the chest of the statue. Tourists can ride on the high-speed elevators present inside the statue to reach the gallery. The high-speed elevators will be able to climb up to 4 meters per second.
The gallery has an amazing view of river Narmada, the Sardar Sarovar dam and the surrounding Satpura range of hills. There is also a museum and exhibition hall inside the statue which will display the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Furthermore, there is be a valley of flowers which is around 17 KM long. The entry ticket prices for the Statue of Unity starts at ₹120 for an adult. The basic ticket will include the valley of flowers, the Sardar Patel memorial, museum and audio-visual gallery, the Statue of Unity site and Sardar Sarovar Dam. For children, under 15 years the price of the basic ticket is ₹60.
The full ticket for the Statue of Unity costs ₹350 for an adult and children’s above 3 years of age. This ticket allows entry to the observation deck, the valley of flowers, the Sardar Patel memorial, museum and audio-visual gallery, the Statue of Unity site and Sardar Sarovar dam.
