1. Uruguay (1930)

Uruguay was the first country to win the FIFA tournament in 1930. Argentina was the first runner-up. 13 teams were invited to this tournament and there was no qualification round.

2. Italy 1934

Italy won the FIFA tournament in 1934 against Czechoslovakia. 16 teams qualified through the qualification round.

3. Italy 1938

Italy again won the FIFA tournament in 1930 beating Hungary. 16 countries qualified for the qualification round but Australia withdrew.

4. Uruguay 1950

England won the FIFA world cup defeating West Germany. There were 16 teams from 4 regions.
