Yesterday on 30th January, former Defence Minister George Fernandes died at the age of 88 years. According to the news sources, it was informed that, George was suffering from illness since a very long period of time. He has served the nation from the year 1998 to 2004.
Not many people are aware of the fact that George Fernandes was the founder of the Samata Party in 1994. During his term in serving the country, he was supervising Pokhran nuclear tests of 1998 and the Kargil war in 1999. George made frequent trips to Siachen Glacier to ensure the well-being and comfort of the Indian soldiers is also not unknown to people.
The former Defence Minister was suffering from the disease of Alzheimer and during his last days also caught swine flu.
The announcement of the sad demise of George Fernandes is very shocking and our country will never be able to replace an honest leader as him.
