Freedom Fighters of India to Remember Who Fought for Free India

The feeling of walking on streets freely and the right to express seems very basic and common in today’s date. However, what we fail to do is appreciate what the brave freedom fighters of India sacrificed. Independence Day is approaching and soon all the streets will be bearing tricolor, Indian flags and songs of patriotism will be heard. 1. Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi, today remembered as father of our nation played a very significant role in the Independence struggle of India.Gandhi initiated the fight to freedom in non-violent method. Today, in the honorable memory of Mahatma Gandhi, on his birthday 2 October, there is a declared National Holiday. Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on 30 January 1948.

2. Bhagat Singh

Bhagat Singh was born in Sikh and is one of the most famous freedom fighters of India. He was also a part of non-cooperation movement of India. During his journey in attaining freedom of the country, he participated in movements to fight against the British government ruling India. In 1929, 18 April Bhagat Singh bombarded the Central Legislative Assembly. British Government on 23 March 1931, gave Bhagat Singh death penalty.

3. Mangal pandey

Mangal Pandey is one of the most respected and loved freedom fighters of India. He is the first freedom fighter for Independence. One of the major step taken by him was to try and commit suicide to motivate the feeling of patriotism. However, he was captured by the army and sentenced to death on 8 April 1857.

4. Subhas Chandra Bose

Many people in the world remeber Subhas Chandra Bose by the name Netaji. It was Netaji who was not satisfied with the non-violence approach of India to fight for freedom. Therefore, he formed the Indian National Army

5. Rani Laxmi Bai

We all have read the poems and stories about the bravery of Rani Laxmi Bai who bravely fought the battle of Jhansi alone. The picture of Rani Laxmi Bai carrying her child on her back and fighting against the British government’s army is very famous.

The list of freedom fighters of India does not end here. There were many Nobel souls who sacrificed their life, family, love and youth for the freedom of mother India.
