Haryana: Teams to visit home isolated COVID-19 patients every alternate day

Haryana government on Friday issued new COVID-19 guidelines for patients who are under home isolation care. In the newly issued guidelines, major emphasis was laid on the in-person visits to the patients in home isolation. Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Rajeev Arora informed that over 60-70 per cent of the total Coronavirus patients in India are under home isolation care. He added that under new rules, district home isolation monitoring team will visit every patient on alternate day to make sure that right care and precautionary measures are being followed.

Haryana orders new rules for patients under home isolation care

Rajeev Arora said, “Asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, who are in home isolation care, usually are unable to follow the guidelines like staying in a separate room, a caregiver to look after the needs of the patient. Subsequently, the ‘district home isolation monitoring team’ will visit the patient on alternate days to monitor if the guidelines are being followed.”

On sharing the other important details of the new guidelines, Cheif Executive Office, Ayushman Bharat, Haryana Health protection authority, Ashok Kumar Meena says that the mobile health monitoring teams who will be visiting patients under home isolation care can easily check the details of the patients on the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) portal. Each team visiting the patient will have one assistant medical officer (AMO), one auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) and one accredited social health activist (ASHA) worker. All the details of the patients will be given to Mission Director, national health mission, Haryana, Prabhjot Singh. Parameters including pulse, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen level will be checked by the health teams.

Ashok Meena said, “The monitoring field teams will make sure that separate washrooms are being used if the COVID-19 patient is co-morbid other than the vital parameters. After the inspection, the information of the patient will be shared with the nodal officer appointed at block-level and district-level.”

Coronavirus outbreak in Haryana

Haryana has been taking strict measures to curb the spread of the pandemic. So far 1,06,261 positive COVID-19 cases have been recorded. As per the latest reports shared by MOHFW, in the last 24 hours, the state has reported 2488 new cases and 23 new deaths. In total, 83,878 people have recovered from the pandemic and currently number of active cases are 21,291.
