Indian Air Force: Celebrates 87th Day; showcases ‘Power’ and ‘Valour’

The Indian Air force Day celebrates its day today. The day came into being since 1932 and it’s 87 years since it is celebrated every year. Each year with zeal and enthusiasm remains on its peak. The Air Force not only showcases its power to the world but also its citizens that assures them that their security is in safe hands. Indian Air Force is the fourth largest fleet of Air Defense in the world, only after the US, China, and Russia.

For so many years now, the Air Force has relentlessly worked to protect people. The contribution of the Air Force cannot be forgotten in various wars India has won, especially in recently conducted ‘Air Strikes’ over Pakistan.

As the wishes started to pour on the occasion, Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on his twitter handle-

‘Indian Air Force’ is a symbol of valor and courage. On Air Force Day, I salute our Air Force heroes and their families. The entire nation is proud of your dedication and commitment to safeguarding our motherland.’

What’s special going on this year?

1) Tejas on Display

The Made-in-India jet Tejas is at the display for the very first time to the public at the Hindon Airbase where all the action is taking place.

2) WC Abhinandan Varthaman Flies his MiG LIVE

The Air Force hero from the dogfight with Pakistan after the Air-Strikes, Abhinandan Varthaman will be flying his MiG and leading the ‘MiG formation’.

3) Chinook Helicopter form formation

4) Apache Helicopter make their first appearance

5) The Balakot-Heros to be Awarded for their marvels as Air Strikes

As the Indian Air Force celebrated its 87th birthday, the No 9 squadron of the Indian Air Force to be awarded for carrying out Balakot airstrike. Two more squadrons to receive unit citations.

Squadron Leader Minty Agarwal’s unit awarded the unit citation for their role in the Balakot strike. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s 51 Squadron also to be award unit citation.
