India’s bullet train dreams

Like every new innovative developing field India aspires to embark upon, criticism is a must from a segment of pessimistic. Starting from the telecom revolution to India’s ambitious moon and interplanetary missions, it all has been criticized for India still being a poot country.

History proves that how these efforts enhanced the lives of the poorest of the poor citizen of India. Without the Telecom revolution pioneered by Rajiv Gandhi, one cannot think of the idea of new India. The same has been with the bullet train dream of India.
Prime minister Narendra Modi along with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone of India’s first high-speed bullet train project on Thursday. The total capital requirement is approximately 1.10 lakh crore in which around 85 percent of the funding is being provided by Japan as a soft loan to be repaid in 50 years. The project will shorten the traveling time of 508 KM distance from Ahmedabad to Mumbai from 8 hours to 2 hours. The high-speed corridor involves the train route not only on the elevated corridor but also on an undersea tunnel.
The project has a targeted time frame to be completed in August 2022 on the occasion of India’s 75th year of independence celebration.
Important achievements for India on successful completion of the project would not only be a robust medium of transport but also it would create a lot of jobs directly and indirectly. The ‘Make in India’ project will get a boost as the part and machinery will be manufactured in India under this program. Hoping with the project India’s prosperity and development may embark on a splendid journey.
