IPL Auction 2019: Full of Surprises Waiting for You
The biggest cricket extravaganza is back with a bang, promising even more drama and twists and turns that you can expect from an event of this caliber. Heroes have been made, amazing young players made their mark in this ground and epic comebacks have been staged. As compared to the previous years’ strategy of picking up all the hot foreign players with international skills, the trend this year has been to pick up good regional players who are much more in sync with the grounds they are about to play in. After certain regulations from the BCCI, all the teams are focusing more on the raw talent India has in its regional quarters than the foreign cricketers. This strategy has been a very sound one, considering how quite a few surprises have come by from the pool of regional players. It all goes to show that when given an opportunity, everyone can shine against the best and the brightest. Good performance here can also help them getting picked for the national team next year!

As usual, Its never IPL without the presence of a few surprises. The top ranking players like Cheteshwar Pujara from the Indian side and the foreign hotshots like Brendon Mccullum and Alex Hales went unsold this auction. The focus went on the untapped regional market like Jaydev Unakat and Varun Chakravarthy who has become the most expensive player bought in IPL 2019. KXIP paid 8.40 crore to take him up to his team, among with Jaydev Unakat, who was also bought at the same price by the Rajasthan Royals.
Another expensive buy was the Mumbai star Shivam Dube, who was bought by RCB for 5 crore rupees. Mohit Sharma was also picked up by CSK for the same price. Yuvraj and Guptill seemed to have lost of the demand, as after going unsold in the first round, were taken up at the base price of 1 crore.

However, though the importance was on the Indian players, many notable foreign players were also picked up. For example, Sam Curran was taken up with a pay check of 7.20 crore by the KXIP team. Colin Ingram was chosen by the Delhi team for the cost of 6.40 crore rupees. KKR went with a cautious budget and their maximum expenditure went behind Carlos Brathwaite for the cost of 5 crore rupees.
