“In My Feelings” is a song by the famous Canadian musician ‘Drake’ from his fifth studio album Scorpion (2018). It was released to rhythmic and contemporary hit radio on July 10th, 2018 as the album’s fifth single. The song features additional vocals by the City Girls. The catchy rhythm and the upbeat music is sure to get the audience grooving to its magic. Kiki comes from the lyrics of the song: “Kiki, do you love me?” But it’s not the Canadian rapper who prompted the viral challenge. It was internet comedian ‘Shiggy’ who posted a video of him dancing on the streets on June 30th, 2018. That with the alternative names #ShiggyChallenge or #DoTheShiggy. And the rest, like they say, is butterfly effect.

As the challenge spread through the mass media youngsters across India started going for the #KikiChallenge risking their own life as well as the public safety. Then on, the government of India Uttar Pradesh police division has made their laws stricter and will arrest any youngster attempting it in busy traffic junctions. A quick scroll through social feeds shows us videos where people step out of their cars, and dance to the tunes of the infamous Drake track, called ‘In My Feelings’ from his latest album ‘Scorpion’. “Dear parents, whether Kiki loves your child or not, we are sure you do! So please stand by your kids in all the challenges in life except #kikichallenge #KiKiHardlyAChallenge #InMyFeelingsChallenge #UPPolice (sic),” read the UP police tweet.
What the Jaipur police had to say? – All you need to know!
While the rest of the police authorities had attempted to warn the parents and the youngsters of India with a slightly moderate tone, the Jaipur police have taken one step further in the game. Sharing a photo of a man with a garland on his photo suggesting his death, Jaipur Police warned, “Don’t challenge death. Be wise – keep away from silly stunts & advise your friends as well to stay safe.” The striking photo got everyone talking online. The image accompanying the post read, “In loving memory of KK — Loving boyfriend of Kiki, died while doing the Shiggy.” Now, this has sparked lots of unrest in the country as the Jaipur police have attempted to use dark humor to warn parents and youngsters against the viral trend. After Gujarat police, Bengaluru Police too warned people attempting the viral ‘In My Feelings’ challenge that doing the dance on road might end them behind the bars. Mumbai Police also came up with another warning as more videos of the challenge surfaced online. They also said ‘Doing the #KikiChallenge may get you a KICK OF LAW ‘.
