On the night of 2 July 2020, 8 UP Police personnel were shot dead by the Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey when police were on an operation to raid an area as they have suspected huge criminal activity in that area. It is very shocking to say that 8 Uttar Pradesh Police personnel including one DCP, 3 Sub Inspectors, and 4 Constables were shot dead in the village of Kanpur. The purpose of the police team to raid that area was to gather all the evidence and finally be able to stop all the criminal activities taking place there. The man who was behind this ruthless killing is Vikas Dubey. His criminal record started in 1990 and since then he has been accused of many charges including murder, kidnapping, extortion, and rioting.

What exactly happened during the operation against Vikas Dubey?

This merciless killing of the 8 police personnel along with so many police officers injured, has left the whole nation including the CM of UP, Yogi Adityanath in complete despair and anger. The reports say that Vikas Dubey is still on the run and police departments across the country are on high alert to find him

When the team of police was sent to the village in Kanpur for the raid they were immediately welcomed by the rains of bullets from the criminals who were hiding on the roof. The forensic team has said that the weapons which were used to attack the police were very powerful including AK-47s.

Vikas Dubey has now been charged with up to 60 different criminal cases. The police officials who were present there for the raid operation say that the criminals were attacking the policemen from three different locations and it can be easily said that all of this ambush was completely planned.

The DGP of Up police, HC Awasthi said;

“Vikas Dubey and other men had put up roadblocks on the routes that lead to the village. An earthmover blocking the road indicated an organized ambush. The policemen were forced to abandon their car and walk to the village in THE pre-dawn darkness. Once they managed to get to the village, they were fired from rooftops by shooters who were ready for them.”

UP Chief Minister has announced 1 crore Ex-gratia for the kin of police personnel who were killed during the attack

It was on Friday, 3 July 2020 that the CM of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath after paying the tribute to the brave hearts said;

The mother of Vikas Dubey, Sarla Devi said in an interview with the press:

“Strict punishment should be given to Vikas Dubey. He should surrender himself before the police. If he continues to remain at large, police may kill him in the encounter. I say kill him even if you (police) manage to catch him. By killing innocent policemen, he has done a very bad thing. I saw the news of the encounter on TV. I want him should come out and surrender to police for his betterment, otherwise, police will find him anyway. I am saying nab him and then do encounter. He must be punished.”

Srala Devi also added;

“Vikas Dubey joined the crime world after coming in contact with politicians. He wanted to win MLA elections. He had gunned down Santosh Shukla, a minister in the Rajnath Singh to lead UP government. Vikas Dubey’s mother further said that he is causing embarrassment to the family. I have not met him in 4 months. I am living with my younger son here in Lucknow. We are facing a problem because of him. We are embarrassed because of him.”
