Mary Kom becomes the number one women boxer in 48-Kg category

All-time favorite boxer of India, Mary Kom has been listed as number one women boxer by AIBA (International Boxing Association). The 31-year old and a mother of three, Mary  Kom won gold in Light Fly 45-48 Kg category by earning 1700 points.

This Light Fly match was between Mary and Hanna Okhota. Hanna Okhota represented Ukraine and she was defeated by Mary with a score of 5-0.

This is not the first prestigious title, Mary Kom has earned. Just a few months ago, she was also honored with the title of “becoming first women boxer to win 6 championships”. On the other hand, Hanna from Ukraine was honored as the number two women boxer in the world.

After achieving such a victory, Mary Kom has surpassed the record set by Katie Taylor from Ireland and has come to the level of men’s boxing record.

She won many medals in various sports tournaments. Although, her International career was started by winning a silver on the first day of Women’s World Championship in 2001.
