Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse sequel announced officially

spiderman Sequel Announced: Sony released the Oscar-winning and critically acclaimed film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 which became one of the most popular and beloved superhero movies ever made. It was a dazzling, visually stunning, innovative and emotionally resonant film with a strong message. Given the film’s ending, it was not at all unexpected that the brilliant movie is being followed by a sequel. Even though the rumours about this sequel have been going around for a few months now, Sony has finally confirmed the whispers and officially announced the upcoming sequel along with the release date: 8th April 2022. Although it may sound like it’s too far off and an extremely long wait, but it is impossible to make a movie like that sooner than this. Considering how distinct the animation style is, it is natural for the Spider-Verse movies to take a bit longer.

Ever since the first Spider-Verse movie featuring the voices of Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry and Shameik Moore toppled Incredibles 2 and bagged the Academy Award for Best Animated Film, fans have been dying for more adventures of Miles Morales and his friends. After some in-depth discussions and ironing out a few details, Sony and Disney finally came to an agreement making it possible for the Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). A week or so before the announcement, the movie’s official Twitter account had teased that something big would be coming soon. A week later, there was another tease that indicated a big upcoming announcement. A day after the second tease Sony officially announced the sequel along with the release date in a Tweet.

Before the first spiderman Sequel was Announced, film had even hit the theatres, there were reports saying that a sequel was already underway with Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s Joaquim Dos Santos set to direct and David Callaham, Wonder Woman 1984 screenwriter, on the project to write the screenplay. Rumour had it that the sequel will focus on Gwen Stacy’s (Hailee Steinfeld) and Miles Morales’ (Shameik Moore) budding romance, which was a part of the original script that didn’t fit in the film. Reportedly, a spin-off film starring all the spider-powered female characters was also in development simultaneously. However, any more updates regarding the future of this particular project were not heard.

For quite a while now, the team behind Spider-Verse is planning to create an entire franchise. Producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord want to make Spider-Verse the benchmark for a whole universe of characters. In a statement, Lord said “Look, we wanted to make a movie that felt like it was the tip of the iceberg. You could imagine all of these other things. So it’s music to our ears that people could imagine a Spider-Noir film and the Spider-Ham insane cartoon.” to know more continue on talepost.
