Sridevi’s English Vinglish Co-Star – Sujata Kumar Dies

Actress Sujata Kumar, who played the role of Sridevi’s sister in the movie called ‘English Vinglish’ has passed away. Sujata was struggling with cancer for a very long time and the actress lost her battle with the disease late on Sunday night. The news was confirmed by the actress’s sister, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi via her Tweeter handle.

Suchitra’s tweet read, “Our beloved Sujata Kumar has passed away and moved on to a better place leaving us with an unimaginable void. She left us an hour ago at 11.26 p.m. Life can never be the same again.” In another Facebook post, Suchitra mentioned about the cremation details, “We are bidding our last farewell to Sujata Kumar at Juhu Crematorium, Vile Parle West, near Pavan Hans today 20th August 2018 at 11 am.”

Sujata had worked in many of the well-known TV shows like Bombay Talking, Hotel Kingston along with her popular appearance in Anil Kapoor’s show 24. She had some impeccable acting skills, which showed in all her roles played. Although, the most remembered role of the actress is that of Sridevi’s sister in the movie English Vinglish. She was also seen in movies like Salaam-E-Ishq, Raanjhanaa, Guzaarish, and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

The journey of fighting against cancer has really been hard both for the actress and her sister, Suchitra. On Saturday, Suchitra tweeted, “It feels like somebody’s plunged a hard cold knife into my heart and ripped the ground from under my feet as I sit outside ICU and pray for my big sister, my mother, my best friend, my darling Sujata Kumar as she battles for her life inside. Please join me & my family in our prayers for her. Please pray for my darling sister Sujata Kumar.” The tweet itself shows the grief and pain through which Suchitra was dealing with.

The actress was fighting with the last stage of cancer and all were hoping for a miracle again as the last time. Sujata had been a survivor of cancer in the past as well. But this time, destiny had something else for her. Sujata’s condition deteriorated following with failure of multiple organs.
