Till date, there are only few electric cars in India. The options are limited to Tata Tigor EV, Mahindra eVerito and Mahindra e20 Plus. However, after the listing of 2019 budget, more electric cars would be launched in India.
Electric Cars in India
1. Nissan Leaf
It was confirmed in January 2019 by Nissan that it will bring its best selling and second generation electric car, Nissan Leaf in India. The car is having 40 kWh battery, which can run for 400 Km on a single charge. The car’s battery will take about 8 to 16 hours for charging, depending upon the capacity of the charging point. One of the most attracting features about the Nissan Leaf is that, it comes with a quick charging feature and it can charge the car’s battery up to 80% in just 40 minutes. This model from Nissan is from the premium EV range and its cost is between 30-35 lakh.
2. MG eZS
It has been announced by MG Motor India, that it will launch its first ever electric SUV in India. The MG eZS comes with a 150 hp electric motor as it has the capacity to push the electronic SUV from 0 kmph to 50 kmph in just 3.1 sec. This soon to be launched electronic car in India give a overall range of about 335 Km from a single charge. The British Automaker informed the media, that the car would be launched in 2019 December. The approximate price of this car would be around 25 lakh.
3. Maruti Wagon R EV
It has been officially announced by the Maruti Suzuki that it will launch its first ever electric car in India by the upcoming year 2020. The battery pack used in the all-new electronic Maruti Wagon R EV is made up of Lithium-ion. EV will offer a range of about 200 Km on a single charge. However, the largest car maker of India has not announced whether the car would include the feature of fast-charging. The price of the Maruti Wagon R EV will be around 7 lakh.
4. Mahindra eKUV100
All new electric Mahindra eKUV100 is said to be launched in India this year around the festive season. According to the information, it is confirmed that the car would be priced between 7-9 lakh. The car will come equipped with a 31kW motor and will have a range of about 140 Km with a single charge. Mahindra eKUV100 will come with a feature of fast-charging and one can charge 80% of the car’s battery in an hour.
5. Hyundai kona
Last but not the least, Hyundai Kona will be launched by Hyundai in India. This car is being labelled as the India’s first electric real SUV. The price of this vehicle is rumored to be 25 lakh. This car will offer a range of about 312 Km on a single charge. The car also comes with a feature of fast-charging.
