The government of India bestowed, India Men’s team captain “Virat Kohli” with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for his spectacular and outstanding performance in the field. President Ram Nath Kovind confers the award at National Sports and Adventure Award 2018 function at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Virat Kohli is the third Indian cricketer to be awarded the highest sporting honour in India. Smriti Mandhana is the tenth woman cricketer to win the Arjuna Award.

Virat Kohli stuns the nation with some of the unbelievable performances, consecutively which makes him one of the richest players around the world in the Forbes richest player count. Kohli recently finished with 593 runs in five tests during recent England tour. Kohli already broke the records of top five all-time centurions with his overall tally of 58 hundred’s in all formats. The maestro ranks number one on both ODIs and test list as per ICC. The 29 -year old has smashed all the records and has so many achievements in his bag of fame. From ICC ODI player of the year 2012 and 2017 to Padma Shri 2017. With so many remarkable honours under his leadership, the Indian cricket team will achieve a top rank in all three formats.

Two other recipients of Rajiv Khel Ratna award are Sachin Tendulkar (1997) and MS Dhoni (2007) for their par excellence in the field for four years. These cricketers have much more experience than Virat Kohli but his performance sways him as the most highly rising star.
