WhatsApp shuts usage for older version of Android and iOS from February 2020.

In a recent update of the policies, the largest online texting app- WhatApp has shut down services for Android as well as iOS that are running on old versions. If for a long time, you have not updated your operating system, then it is time you do to continue using the services by WhatsApp.

In an official blog of WhatsApp, the company revealed that the messing platform will not be available for specific versions of Android and IOS. The Android versions of 2.3.7 and older. For iPhone users, iOS 8 or older will no longer be able to use the application from February, 2020. In the end, the Facebook owned giant closed all services for Windows phones for versions of 8.1 or older.

Apart for messaging on WhatsApp, the obsolete versions will not be able to create new accounts as well as cannot re-verify existing their accounts. Which indirectly means that the WhatsApp accounts will not be able to operate on such versions. But these services will be restricted from February 2020 and no restriction will be applied till then.

For the accounts that have been logged on older version smartphones, the services can be used till same date. After the deadlines, the already logged in accounts will be logged out from the company’s side. And as per the restrictions, they will not be able to login again. Resulting in either they will have to update their versions or they cannot operate their accounts.

For people who operate WhatsApp on devices like iPhone X or later versions of iPhone, that are- iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, can now use the new feature called ‘memoji stickers’ while chatting on WhatsApp. However, to use this ‘memoji stickers’ the users will have to update the iPhone to iOS 13.
