A proud moment steps in for our country. Our country proudly takes in the first gold medal in the Asian games 2018. India won the gold medal in wrestling. In Jakarta, our country takes home the first gold medal in wrestling by Bajrang Punia. He won this medal in 65 kg category. Earlier in the game, he took a lead of 6-0. The final of the match marked his victory by the scoreboard showing 11-8. Many more players tried their best in the wrestling category in Asian games 2018 but disappointed the country.
On August 19, 2018- in 65 kg category Bajrang Punia was against Daichi Takatani of Japan. In the final, he won over him under this category. This was a very proud moment for him as well as for the country.
Bajrang Punia – a journey to gold.
Bajrang Punia was born on 26th February in the year 1994. He was born in the small village of Haryana named Khudan village of Jhajjar district. He was encouraged by his father to pursue wrestling from the age of 7. It can be said that he was focused on this game, wrestling from a very young and peruse it. He made his skills better with the passage of time. He generally plays as a freestyle wrestler.

2013 – Asian wrestling championship, lost bronze medal to South Korea in 60 kg free
Style, in Semifinal.
– World wrestling championship, won bronze in 60 kg free style..
2014 – Commonwealth games, Scotland. He won Silver medal in the 60 kg category,
Men’s free style.
– Asian games, he gave his best and won the Silver medal in men’s free style in 61
Kg category.
– Asian wrestling championship, won the Silver medal in 61 kg category, men’s free
Style.
2015 – World wrestling championship, he was not able to grab any of the medal in this
Game held in Las Vegas.
2017 – Asian wrestling championship, he played well and owned a gold medal from the
Game held at New Delhi.
2018 – Commonwealth games, this year he won a gold in 65 kg category, men’s free
Style.

He marked his victory on Sunday evening, 19th August 2018 and put a gold into India’s bag earning it from wrestling. At the end of the day, India was holding a 7th position on medal tally of different competition throughout the day.
What he thinks about the upcoming events.
He was very happy with his performance and credit this victory to his hard work and determination. He worked very hard for this and says that he’ll not end up celebrating his victory. Rather than he would prepare himself for other championships that he’ll be going to face in future. He wants to get ready for those too and want to give his best.
