After the remarkable victory of BJP in assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh last month Yogi Adityanath emerged as the first choice of PM Narendra Modi to be appointed as Chief Minister of U.P.
Accused of fomenting violence against the Muslim minority in India, Yogi to lead the most populous state in India after the landslide victory of his party.
The opposition party members criticized the appointment of Yogi Adityanath as UP CM. But the officials from BJP says, Yogi is the most appropriate leader for this position.
Federal Information & Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu, said in a press meet, “This is a watershed moment in the history of BJP,” after meeting with BJP officials in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow on Saturday.
“The mandate is for development, good governance and against caste politics.” he added further.
Yogi Adityanath, aged 44, is the head priest of the Gorakhnath Mutt, a Hindu temple in eastern Uttar Pradesh, and a fifth-time legislature in the Indian parliament.
Federal Interior minister Rajnath Singh, telecom minister Manoj Sinha, and BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya were also in the race of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, the BJP state president Keshav Prashad Maurya to be the Deputy CM in UP.
Yogi Adityanath all set to take oath as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister at 2:15 pm today in Smriti Upwan in Lucknow.
