Bollywood movies in the 1990s were something different than it is now. There were love stories, comedy, tragedy and above all there was no fashion of ‘re-makes’. People loved the cinema equally as they do it today. But definitely, it was the ‘golden time’ of Bollywood that the millennials will surely accept. 

Many actors became famous for their performances in the films like Kadar Khan, Amrish Puri, Om Puri for their significant roles, be it comedy or any other roles.

1) Lamhe

Lamhe is one of the best films that have come from Yash Chopra. The movie deals with a very complex situation in which a young man- Anil Kapoor falls for a woman who is way older than him. Later, he losses that woman and finds love in his daughter who looks just like her lady love. There is a dilemma and also lovable story connection. The movie is a masterpiece as it is based on a taboo topic and made with such ease.

2) Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar

One of the finest Aamir Khan’s movies till date and this will be accepted without much contention. Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar is all about college life, love friendship with a wide-angle of competition. Apart from all aspects of college, it also shows the heartbreaks, the favorite-ism of parents in their kids and it all ends with a highly competitive bike race.

3) Maachis

Maachis is another of Gulzar’s magical storytelling of the Khalistaani Movement. The film also showcases the brutality that the civilians had to go throw after the Mission Bluestar in 1984. The movie stars Bollywood veterans like Om Puri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Chandrachur Singh and Tabu who were at their peak in this period.

4) Baazigar

One of the finest performances by Shah Rukh Khan and made by Abbas-Mastan, the film showcases Shah Rukh Khan as the Bad and also the Good guy. Baazigar is the typical Bollywood-Masala film from the olden days.

5) Hum Hai Raahi Pyar Ke

Co-written by Aamir Khan, the film is all around him too. The story of the film revolves around Aamir Khan when he has to take care of three kids like his sister and brother-in-law pass away in an accident. Other than this, he is also responsible for the loss-making factory. But he looks all this with the help of a runaway bride that turns a nanny.

6) Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa

Shah Rukh Khan’s Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is a story of how life can be cruel sometimes presented is the enjoyable way. He plays the role of ‘Sunil’ who wants two things from his life. One is that his band becomes as good as it can turn and second being that he gets the lady love he is waiting for.

7) Andaaz Apna Apna

Andaaz Apna Apna is the benchmark of the comedy films in Bollywood. Made by Rajkumar Santoshi’s this film is made absolutely goofy and stars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. These stars play the role of two boys that are good for nothing and go around the fathers of two ladies and their fathers and also fighting the hilariously-dangerous Crime-Master Gogo-Shakti Kapoor.

8) Pardes

Pardesh is just another Subhash Ghai film that is full of melodrama and killer soundtracks. The story of the film is about Shah Rukh Khan who is a passionate lover, a best friend but fails to repay the debts of his step-dad. Therefore he has to leave the love of life for the favors his father has bestowed on him.

9) Dil Se

Made by Mani Ratnam, which is also his first Bollywood venture. Dil Se is the love story between Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala. Shah Rukh Khan is an A.I.R journalist who encounters the lady, Manisha Koirala till he finds out strange things about her. The chances of their love story to succeed are next to impossible, which makes it even more worth watching.

10) Baadshah

Badshah is a movie filled with great performances. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Johnny Lever, and Amrish Puri. It is a typical comedy movie that is full of comedy at every step.
