CALLING IT QUITS – JUNIOR BACHCHAN LEAVES JP DUTTA’S PALTAN

Well, Well, Well!
Who would have seen that coming?
Abhishek Bachchan quits the movie, Paltan days before its shooting. Well, that is unprofessional for all the reasons in the world, don’t you think? It makes the job of the
casting team to find an appropriate match even harder. But, who knows he may have had some reasons of his own.

Last year, Abhishek Bachchan had established his involvement with J P Dutta’s Paltan. He took to Twitter to share the movie’s poster. He wrote “Brother to my left, brother to my right. Together we stand. Together we fight! I’m part of the Paltan, are you?”

Abhishek Bachchan made his first Bollywood appearance with J P Dutta’s film Refugee in 2000 He starred alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. Six years following the release of Refugee, Abhishek yet again joined forces with the Border director for Umrao Jaan, in which his now spouse and global icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
portrayed the titular role.

Qutting!!

However several media outlets claim that due to family pressure from Big B and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Junior Bachchan called it quits. The family of the actor
somehow felt that the role did not offer him much scope. There was not enough to work on and manoeuvre with. They felt that he should star in movies like ‘Manmarziyan’.

At the ‘Paltan’ trailer launch, Dutta was inquired as to what went wrong with Abhishek and him calling it quits. The director got livid when asked so. He then said, “Please talk
to the Bachchans as I don’t know what exactly happened and what went wrong.”

That came unexpected, just like Bachchan’s move, bearing in mind that the filmmaker would have, in any case, tried to know what went wrong. But, things aren’t clearly okay
between the two and why wouldn’t they be? I mean, JP Dutta’s Refugee was the one which launched Abhishek. The actor at least should have considered the role for old
time’s sake. But, anyway, it wasn’t to be.

Talking about his involvement with movies and his career as a director, J P Dutta said:
“I was born to do this job. For me, happiness lies in making films. When director I’m not making one I’m sad. When you are young you realise what your calling is. I think I’ve
been sent to do this, to make our soldiers immortal.” JP Dutta had formerly directed warfare dramas like Border and LOC Kargil.
