Legendary choreographer Saroj Khan dies at age of 71 due to cardiac arrest on 3 July 2020 in Mumbai hospital. The three-National award winner, Saroj Khan has choreographed some of the most loved and memorable songs of the Bollywood industry. It can be said that the year 2020 has been the darkest for the film industry as it has lost some of the most talented personalities- Irfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, and now Saroj Khan.

Saroj Khan was called “masterji” in the industry and she was known to train many actors in the film industry. The late Saroj Khan was admitted to the Guru Nanak Hospital in Mumbai on 20th June as she was having trouble breathing. The necessary COVID-19 test was also done for Saroj Khan and the reports for the same are negative.
The nephew of Ms. Saroj Khan, Manish Jagwani said to the media;
“She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2:30 am at the hospital.”
Soon after the news of Saroj Khan’s sudden demise was disclosed in the industry many of her close friends and friends took to social media to pray for her soul’s peace.
Remo D’Souza, the famous choreographer of the industry said reported to NDTV said; “Her last rites are over. I just attended and got back. ”
Akshay Kumar tweeted;
“Woke up to the sad news that legendary choreographer #SarojKhan Ji is no more. She made the dance look easy almost like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace.”
Ritesh Deshmukh tweeted;
“Rest in Peace Saroj Khan Ji. This loss is immeasurable for industry & film lovers. Having choreographed more than 2000 songs she single-handedly changed the landscape of how songs were shot. I had the pleasure of being Choreographed by her in Aladin. One tick off my bucket list.”
Ninrat Kaur posted a tweet saying;
“Saroj Ji’s name introduced the word ‘choreographer’ to my life. A genius who immortalized stars and the music that defined an era with her iconic work. May her loved ones find strength and courage at this terrible hour. There’ll never be another…(sic).”
Anil Deshmukh, the Home Minister of Maharashtra tweeted;
“Saddened to hear of ace choreographer and three times national awardee Saroj Khan’s demise at 71. Many of 2000+ iconic songs she choreographed have a permanent place in the audience’s hearts. Deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues.”
Background of Bollywood’s choreographer, Saroj Khan
Saroj Khan was born on 22nd November 1948 in Mumbai. She was married to B. Sohanlal but soon separated with him. She had 3 children with him. She began her journey as a choreographer in 1947 and since then has choreographed many hit songs such as Ek Do Teen, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Barso Re, Mayya, Yeh Ishq Hai, Mauja hi Mauja and many more.
The “masterji” has also been a judge in many dancing shows such as Nach Baliye, Boogie Woogie’s, and various other television shows as well.
