Nepotism VS Real Talent: Segregation of Celebrities in Indian Film Industry

The debate on nepotism vs real talent or the flag bearer vs. the outsiders is growing rapidly in the b-town. The celebrities are now divided into opinions they hold on the existence of nepotism and its ramifications. Day by day every new celebrity gives his or her conviction and joins either side. The roots of nepotism have been so deeply sown in the garden of Bollywood growing it into a ginormous tree carrying an abundance of leaves, which have a strong propensity to hide other trees. Even small herbs, shrubs go unnoticed. The fight of nepotism and favoritism by outsiders or newcomers is becoming vigorous day by day.

Why this Debate is Growing Vigorously?

There is a diversion of Bollywood celebrities on the basis of their credos regarding the support of star kids, nepotism, and favoritism vs. real talent. The major reason behind the bisection of celebrities is that the long back nourished tree of nepotism in Bollywood has restricted the entry of outsiders in Bollywood. There is a long line of struggle and hardships they have to face to make their place in Bollywood. There is a feeling among them that because of nepotism the real talent goes unnoticed. On the contrary, there are celebrities who proudly say that there is no such word as nepotism is the industry. These are specifically the ones who are a part of Bollywood background families.

After the death of Sushant, the Division gets Stronger and Debate getting Ugly

After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the fight is becoming nasty day by day. Karan Johar also called the flag bearer of nepotism has been smashed by a number of Bollywood celebrities, to launch star kids and totally boycott the outsiders. The death of Sushant has given a platform to many stars to talk about their struggle in Bollywood because of the existence of nepotism. With sheer audacity of Kangana Ranaut, she has openly said that the death of Sushant Singh Rajput is not just suicide but murder by boycotting him and his films. She has always spoken against nepotism. She has been criticizing Karan Johar for his narrow approach towards casting the actors in the films. Tapsee Pannu who has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood also spoke against the favoritism in Bollywood. She said that it is very hurtful when we don’t get stardom, and all of it is given only to star kids. Many others have also joined the hand in the same discussion. Among the actors and actresses addressing this debate Suvreen Chawla openly spoke how she was removed from a film and got replaced by a star kid just because she was an outsider. Recently Vikrant Massey has spoken about the debate on ‘outsider vs. Insider’ that “While doing television, I had seen this thing and a lot of people had made me aware of it. I knew it would take ten to 11 years for me to re-establish myself in film. I was willing to do it because I know I possess something which is unique and it is being recognized, It is a paradoxical situation today, nepotism is there but ultimately, survival is because of talent,”.

On the other hand are the celebrities who oppose these statements and allegations about the existence of nepotism are all crap. Sonam Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, etc, and many others from Bollywood background families stand on this side of the debate. Pooja Bhatt had recently tweeted aggressively to people trolling and smashing Alia Bhatt. A number of tweets she talked about nepotism and said that she can only laugh at accusations on favoritism and nepotism smashing Kangana Ranaut that she was launched in Bhatt production. Adding her words she said how Bhatts have struggled during the early days. Speaking against the hailing nepotism debate, she said stop trying to defame actors in the name of nepotism, actors have found their ways to movies with the help of spring boarded we (Bhatts) provided decades ago. Also, she mentioned that their production is giving a break to a newcomer ‘Suniljeet’ in ‘Sadak 2’.

Real Talent VS Nepotism

Because of different opinions, the whole Bollywood town has been divided. The scope of being noticing real talent is very low because nepotism is too highly spread in the town. The struggling actors with brilliance have been suffering a lot because of the same.
