FANNEY KHAN’S BOX OFFICE PERFORMANCE
Well, I guess that you might have heard of how poor Fanney Khan’s performance was at the box office.
It would be quite some time before the movie actually is able to start off decently.
The movie starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao was much anticipated due to its versatile star cast. But, unfortunately, it was a hit and a miss. The movie hit the big screen on 3 rd August
and was unable to catch the audience’s interests.
The movie managed to accumulate only Rs. 2.15 crores on its release date, reports Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh. On Saturday, he took to Twitter to express the film’s presentation as “extremely poor”. He went on to say on the micro-blogging site:
“Terrible terrible terrible Friday… New Hindi films open to shockingly low numbers”
Keeping into thought Fanney Khan’s striking star cast and attention-grabbing storyline and plot, the low business of the film does come as a surprise.
In the intervening time, Abhishek Bachchan assesses the films in the finest possible means. “Just saw Fanney Khan. What a beautiful film. A great message and worthy

Fanney Khan is stirred by the 2000 Dutch film, Everybody’s Famous. The movie is directed by Atul Manjrekar. The motion picture depicts the voyage of Fanney Khan (Anil
Kapoor), who desires to make his daughter Lata (Pihu Sand) a famed vocalist. But, since she is overweight, her talent is not appreciated.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan can be seen portraying the role of a well-known singer who goes by the name of Baby Singh while Rajkummar Rao can be seen opposite Aishwarya as her love interest Box office feats out-of-the-way, movie’s songs such as Mohabbat, Badan Pe Sitare and Halka Halka have been received well by the audience on the Internet for quite some time now.

Our film critic wrote, “Atul Manjrekar’s film talks about relationships, dreams, struggles of a common man,
fat shaming besides touching upon other aspects like stereotyping women, casting couch and rat race for TRP. First-half of the movie passes within a blink of an eye; however, it becomes melodramatic post-interval.”
“Fanney Khan fails to bring a realistic approach to the story. Anil’s Hyderabadi accent is on and off throughout the movie, even Rao was not able to get that Kashmiri accent
right. Aishwarya’s make up doesn’t smudge even after being kidnapped for several days”.
In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film two and a half stars out of five and wrote:
Portions of Fanney Khan are a bit of a stretch: they
are a touch flabby and far-fetched. But first-time director Atul Manjrekar not only keeps the dramatic core of the story intact, he also ramps it up appreciably to
serve up an indigenized version that more than serves its purpose.
Well, good plotline or star-studded performances or not, naudience didn’t take any of that well. It will be quite some time before a genuinely good movie will be able to crack
its way out.
