Whatever may come and go. Movies are a thing that gets possibly any Indian’s attention because we are all born movie buffs.

In this sea of movies, a movie named title Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se was released on the 31st of August, the sequel to 2013 released Yamla Pagla Deewana 2. The third installment of Yamla Pagla Deewana film series with a huge cast.

On the same day, a movie called Stree was released as well. Just the title of the movie is so intriguing to gain your attention.

No two movies tell the same stories, but what is it that one is always better than the other? There are a lot of reasons to pick a film over another. To make the decision of the movie bluffs better on why they should watch Stree over Yamla pagla Deewana, here are some reasons why:

  • The originality of the movie

The movie came along like a breath of fresh air. A new concept that was never really seen on the screens of Indian theatres. It has a promising aspect, even if it doesn’t match your taste and genre of movies. You will not shy away from appreciating the originality of the movie over Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se. Which is yet again like its prequels, is more of what we refer to as a ‘masala movie’.

  • The fine cast

Though Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is packed with a superstar cast.   Dharmendra and Sunny Deol. Stree comes out with a cast of exceptional actors, like Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi. Which bring out the raw emotions into the movie through the power of their acting.

  • The unique genre

Many of us might not have even heard of a movie genre called ‘horror comedy’.  Movies of such category were never made in India. And if they were, they never really reached the mark of being watchable. But Stree brought in a change into the monotonous Indian extravagant productions with a superstar cast like Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se.

  • A message through laughter

Through the trailers, it might have not been evident that the movie Stree also portrayed a very important message of feminism and other social issues. Especially being a mixture of horror and comedy.

  • The dialogues

While Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se might have the same route chart of dialogues as used in all the past movies in the series. Stree comes with a refreshing set of vocals that were one of the strongest aspects of the movie. All thanks to Sumit Arora’s conversational humor.

  • The importance given to minor characters

In movies like Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, where the lead cast is already packed with superstars, it is often seen that the minor characters always side-lined. Never appreciated for their skills. But in Stree, actors like Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee, who played the roles of Rajkumar’s character’s best friends were given just as much importance as any other character.

  • The level of relativity

Stree is set in a small town in Madhya Pradesh. All the characters involved in the plot gave the essence of an ordinary Indian crowd, like how we see every day. Thus, the audience will find the characters relatable. They will associate themselves with the friendship amongst the characters and how they live their day-to-day lives.

  • The direction

In movies under the horror category, especially in India, the direction could prove to spoil the whole vibe of the movie if not presented correctly. The horror aspect of a movie depends highly on the direction, and in Stree, Amar Kaushik induces all the right tricks to make people laugh and give them goosebumps out of thrill at the same time.

  • The execution

With so many genres and messages to present in front of an audience which wasn’t prepared for a horror comedy, is a tough work to do. But Stree was executed in a way that it managed to portray the social messages as well as keep the audience entertained as well, unlike Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, which could be seen as a very thin dimensional film.

  • The trailer and the response of the audience

Trailers are one of the most important parts of the movie before release. It investigates the interest of the audience towards the film. Thus, giving away too much in the trailer itself would never encourage the audience to walk to the theatres and walk it in as an extended version. But Stree had a very intriguing trailer and pre-release promotion, that kept the audience on the toes.
