What has changed in India after Lockdown from Rivers to Jungles

Changed after Lockdown: Lockdown during this Coronavirus outbreak has served as a boon to mother nature. Since there is no traffic, no movement towards the degradation of the environment, no pollution. The entire nature is flourishing with its full potential and now it is, as it used to be decades back.

The advancement, busy life, industrial growth, increased use of vehicles had simply increased the amount of global pollution. That had badly hampered the other forms of life and indirectly that was harming us. But none could see this, none could take the charge to take control over it. As we all know leading balanced life is harmonious. A little imbalance disrupts everything.

Mythology says

When things go wrong, whenever there is an imbalance, nature works in a direction to restore the declining part and then creates balance. We humans merely understand this point and progress continuously in uplifting ourselves and degrading the mother nature.

The statistics generated last year that spoke about the pollution level. Data reflected the degrading condition of the air we breathe, the water we drink. But still, humans could not make an effort to restore the lost. So mother nature took the charge to create that balance. Believe it or not, this pandemic Covid-19 is away designed by nature to restore the balance and heal the cracks. And so has happened the air pollution level has gone down, the rivers are clean with low BOD and the animals and greenery in jungles are having a peaceful time.

Improved quality of air

Copernicus Satellite image on nitrogen dioxide content

India was among that nation whose 14 out of 20 cities fell into the list of most polluted cities. But after this lockdown, the conditions have improved. According to European satellite Copernicus Sentinel- 5P there has been a drastic reduction in air pollution in major cities. The level of nitrogen dioxide has declined significantly. Mumbai and Delhi have a 40-50% reduction in their pollution level. Giving us a better air to breathe.

Decreased aeresol content

NASA releases the statistics which shows a significant decrease in aerosol content and the decline is way more than expected.

Improved water quality

River Yamuna

The quality of water coming from the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna have improved by 40-50%. Lockdown did it in 24 days what various action plans could not do in 34 years. A recent news released says the water of river Ganga in Haridwar is now drinkable again. So this change after COVID-19 has healed nature.

This lockdown has led to protecting the jungles from human intervention. Thereby lead to flourishing flora and fauna.

This was all about the changes after COVID-19 that the entire globe has witnessed and is still witnessing. It is just a humble request to all since nature has restored and healed itself so whenever the situation turns to normal. To preserve this pristine nature because it is ours, disturbing the nature would disturb our lives as well.
